Styles of flip flops

Summer’s here and a wide range of warm weather footwear is re-appearing on the high street. But if you think the word flip flops can only mean flimsy little rubber thongs that you wear while on the beach, then think again. These days there is a dazzling range of flop flops available for any occasion.

T-bar sandals

Wonderfully glamorous, T-bars are great choice if you’re looking to dress up and don’t want the hassle of sore feet and trying to stay upright in a pair of high heels. Great for dinner parties, formal events and nights out, T-bars are simple, glittery, glamorous and work great teamed with a luscious long dress for an effortless A-list look.

Wedges

Halfway between flats and wedge heels, there is a vast selection of heeled flip flops available for those of you still looking for a little elevation. Not only are they wonderful for going out in, but they’re also dressy enough to wear out in the daytime without looking like you’re on your way to a nightclub. For that casual, Mediterranean look, just match them with a simple pair of shorts and a vest top.

Birkenstocks

Unfalteringly classic and fast becoming a British institution, Birkenstock’s are a wonderful choice for those who want to achieve a modern yet traditional look.

The beauty of the Birkenstock is that you really can wear them anywhere in complete comfort: round the house, on the beach or out to the bars.  Birkenstocks look lovely with a fitted skirt or a pair of jeans so if you’re looking for comfort as opposed to wow factor, then Birkenstocks are certainly the way to go. Slip them on or kick them off - wear them once and fall in love.

Beach floppies

These classic flip-flops have been a favourite with holiday makers for decades. Equally at home on the beaches of Malibu and the high streets of London, flip flops are incredibly versatile and never out of fashion.

The great thing about beach flip flops is that they never fall victim to brand snobbery. Enduring and affordable, no matter what their make, they always look great. For a surf-look, just go baggy and bright. To sleek them up in the evening, all you need is a little eye shadow and your party clothes.

What are your thoughts?

I am adoring wedges his season! They're so comfortable, but they make me look instantly fashionable when I strap them on. :)

As much as i love heels, i just stopped wearing them all the time when i had a kid. I just can't run after a child in them ;) I prefer the good old flip flop flip flops right now
