EOTD: Black and Purple

I am sorry for my lack of EOTD/FOTD posts.  I will try to get back on it again.  Whenever I am back in Hawaii I always get lazy.  =\  So last night I wanted to change that.  Here is just a simple look I did.  I was watching Kim and Kourtney in New York and Kim had on smokey black eyeshadow.  So I decided to do something similar for my night out with friends.

It's just a simple black and purple look.

All MAC items used unless stated otherwise:

Ricepaper
AMC 64
Beautiful Iris
Parfait Amour

OOTD: Starbucks Crew

A few years back, with this group of friends, we would ALWAYS hang out at our nearest Starbucks.  Hence our nickname "Starbucks Crew."  Over the past few months, we rarely go to Starbucks since we all have different / new things going on with our lives.  So it was a nice treat hanging out again like the good 'ol days.

At our SB sessions we are very random, so tonight I decided to take pictures for an OOTD post of everyone's outfit.  Tonight was a colder and windier than usual (75 degrees).  Yes, I know...for you mainland folks 75 degrees might not seem like a big deal, but for us, we think it is "SOOOOO cold" just because we are use to our sunny, hot Hawaii weather.  When I go back to SD, I am pretty sure I will miss this "cold" Hawaii weather.

My OOTD
Top: Forever 21 Black Cami (under) and Charlotte Russe White top (over)
Bottom: Charlotte Russe Jeans
Footware: FitFlops
Purse: Gucci

As for my friends, I have no idea what brands they are wearing so I will just let you guess from their pictures.

Cousin pretending I was the paparazzi!

What was your OOTD?

Project Bag & Wallet Ban (Hawaii)

A few months ago I started a P10P version for my bags and wallets (Click here for post).  I frequently travel between Hawaii and San Diego a lot so I have lots of bags at both places.  This is my Hawaii version.

My rules:
1) I cannot buy any new bags/purses whatsoever until my current bags are worn out, ripped, etc.
2) The only exception is if they are gifts from family and friends.
3) I could only buy a new bag if I am down to just one purse and one bag (same goes with my wallets).

Too Faced Smoky Eye Palette

The other day I posted about the Too Faced Naked Eye Palette.  Well today is another Too Faced palette, Smoky Eye.  This palette also belongs to one of my girl friends who was kind enough to let me borrow it for my blog.

*Please note that this palette was bought a while back so it is a bit different from the current palettes in store today.  (i.e. smaller size, no brush(s), different eyeshadow shades)*

For some reason this palette came with two brushes.

Swatches were done by rows starting from the top to bottom, without and with flash.

Honestly I did not care for the first row just because of their neutral shades.  I did like the middle row though.  The green and blue looks beautiful!  I loved how pigmented all the shades were.

The different looks you could create.  Also note that you do not have to follow these cards.  Experiment and play around with the shades.

Overall, anything smoky eye is a must in my book.  If you do not have a big makeup collection or is just starting out than I would recommend this palette.

Which Too Faced Palette is your favorite?

Too Faced Naked Eye Palette

I have always admired the Too Faced palettes because I loved that each palette had a certain theme and beautiful eyeshadows.  Since I already have way TOOOO many eyeshadows in my makeup collection, one of my girl friends offered to let me play around with hers.  I wanted to share with all of you what the palette consist of and what the eyeshadows look like swatched.

*Please note that this palette was bought a while back so it is a bit different from the current palettes in store today.  (i.e. smaller size, no brush(s), different eyeshadow shades)*

Whenever I see "Naked" I always think of the well-known UD Naked Palette.

A closer look at the shades and the brush that was provided in a hidden compartment.

Swatches were done by rows starting from the top to bottom, without and with flash.

The three looks Too Faced suggests you could do with the palette.

Overall, if I did not have the UD Naked palette and less eyeshadows, I would definitely have bought this.  I love anything "natural."  I also like that this palette has matte and lustre shades to choose from and are pigmented.

Do you own this palette?  How do you like it?

NOTW: Leighton Denny Glamour Puss

Leighton Denny's Glamour Puss is a beautiful fuchsia pink shade.  I got this polish from my beauty swap a while back from the lovely Maria Sparkle.  I personally love any pink nail polishes.  This nail polish is very VERY sheer and the formula seemed a bit thin and watery.  I had to learn the hard way to give it more time to dry than what I usually give my other polishes.  Overall though I did like how it looked on my nails.

What's your favorite Leighton Denny nail polish?

HANA Titanium Ionic 1.5" Flat Iron

Last month, Brian of Misikko contacted me asking if I would be interested in doing a review of the HANA Titanium Ionic 1.5" Flat Iron in his store.  I quickly and gladly accepted his offer.  I currently own a Chi Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Flat Iron that I had bought over five years ago.  Even though it still gets the job done, I wanted to see what other flat irons were out there and HANA was a brand I have never heard of before.

I was impressed at how quickly the package got to me, especially having it sent to Hawaii.  When I opened the package, I could not believe everything that was included!  Brian was very generous.  I especially loved the Bobbi Brown Brush set!  <3

Original Price: $239.99
Sale Price: $174.99
Adjustable Heat: 140-450 F
Pure Titanium Plates: Snag-Proof Design & Best Heat Retention
100% Ceramic Heaters: Protects and Conditions
Warranty: 2 Year

Also included: Silicon Thermal-Proof Heat Pad, Heat Proof Pouch, and a big black bag.

Here are the results.  I was VERY impressed with this flat iron.  I liked that the HANA had places for me to grip nicely whereas with my Chi it is just a completely smooth surface.  As you can see my hair naturally is already somewhat straight but wavy.  My girl friend was kind enough to help me out and she actually used the flat iron on my hair.  The flat iron, did not take long to give me nice, straight flat hair.  Like my Chi, it heated up quickly.  I also liked that the HANA flat iron has five different heat settings (140, 230, 302, 370, and 450), which is something my Chi does not have. As for the curls, my girl friend and I have never tried curling hair with a 1.5" flat iron before so we were a bit skeptical, but it actually turned out great.  It is safe to say that I absolutely LOVE my new flat iron.

MAC Glitter and Ice Paint Pot Swatches

The other day I headed to MAC to check out their newest Holiday collection "Glitter and Ice."  I was very overwhelmed and impressed at the product selections.  There were so many items to play around with!  Instead I just settled with the paint pots since there were just three.  I did not purchase any of them because I am supposed to be doing my Project-10 Pan, so I just played with them in store and took some swatches to show all of you.

Let's Skate was probably my favorite.  It is a light pink shade with gold sparkles. You could use this for a day or night look, which I like.

Morning Frost was also beautiful.  I love its brown/taupe color.  This would work well with my neutral eyeshadows, especially with my UD naked palette.

Last but not least is For Effect.  Depending on how much you apply, it could be a really dark or light shade of black with silver glimmer.

Price: $18.50 for 0.17 oz

Have you purchased anything from the Glitter and Ice collection?

Target Beauty Is My Bag

Today in the mail I was surprised to FINALLY see my Target beauty bag.  A few weeks ago, Target had a special offer, which comprised of a beauty bag filled with a few sample products.  I almost forget about this, but I am glad it finally found its way to me.

The cute box it came in.

I love the bag's colors and design.  Beautiful.

Products (Top Left-Bottom Right): Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes, Garnier Fructis Shampoo and Conditioner, Tresemme Naturals Shampoo and Conditioner, Target Coupons, L'Oreal Youth Code Day/Night Cream, and John Frieda Full Body Shampoo and Conditioner.

I actually use two of the samples right now (Tresemme and L'Oreal) but it never hurts to have more.  Plus, who does not love free samples?!  I love being able to try out new products.  I am very excited to try the towelettes.  The coupons are also great deals on a lot of beauty products.

Did you take advantage of this Target special?

MAC Posh Paradise Pure Creation Paint Pot

Just the other day I posted about the MAC Posh Paradise Treasure Hunt Paint Pot.  Today I wanted to share with all of you another paint pot in the collection called "Pure Creation."  This actually belongs to one of my girl friends.  She came with me to MAC the other day so I could play around with these and she fell in love with the blue.  I have to admit it is a gorgeous color!  Since she was a proud owner of Pure Creation I asked her if I could swatch and play around with it to show all of you what it looks like out of the jar.

My girl friends and I just did some simple EOTDs to share.  On the left is a swatch with flash.  The top EOTD, I added an aqua/teal color over the paint pot and a light green shade to the crease.  For the bottom EOTD, we left the paint pot as the eye lid color and just softened the crease with a brown eyeshadow.

If I was not on a makeup ban, I would have gotten this.  It is a beautiful color to add to any makeup collection.  My girl friend who has never owned a paint pot before is very satisfied and uses this quite often.

Have you tried this paint pot?
