Review: Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss by The Sneakerette (Guest Post)

**Huge thanks to the lovely Sneakerette for writing a guest post on my blog.  I hope you all enjoy her review! <3**

Review: Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss

Have you ever tried anything from the Essence line? I’m a huge fan of their products, and I personally think that Essence is one of the most underrated drugstore brands out there! In addition to their amazing nail polishes, their Stay With Me lipglosses are one of my absolute favorites! Without further ado, here’s a review on their Stay With Me Lipglosses.

Essence Longlasting Lipglosses ($2.29 at Ulta for 0.13 fl. Oz.) are available in six shades. I picked up four of the six colors—Me & My Ice Cream, Candy Bar, I Like Cotton Candy, and Berry Me.

Swatches from left to right: Me & My Ice Cream, Candy Bar, I Like Cotton Candy, Berry Me

Me & My Ice Cream is a pale baby pink. Since my lips are really pigmented, this color didn’t do too much for me except give my lips a milky appearance and transform them into a color that I’m not too fond of. I had a bit of trouble getting this color to apply evenly as well. I generally have this problem with ALL light lipglosses though, so I don’t think the quality of this product is necessarily to blame. I usually wear this layered over a lipstick because it adds a nice shine.

Candy Bar is a bright coral that’s great for summer and really brightens up my complexion.

I Like Cotton Candy is a purplish pink color that reminds me of MAC Up the Amp or MAC Playtime. I love purple-ish lip colors, so this one is my favorite!

Berry Me is… well, a berry color. I can see myself wearing this one a lot during the fall. Although it appears really dark and rather vampy in the tube, it applies a lot more sheerly on the lips while still maintaining excellent color payoff. It reminds me of MAC Rebel.

General overview on the glosses:

Texture: All of these lipglosses are nonsticky. They apply very smoothly and are extremely moisturizing, which is why I love wearing them. They just feel great on my lips!

Pigmentation: The pigmentation for these glosses is absolutely superb—these are some of the most pigmented lipglosses I’ve ever tried –period! The colors are very creamy without any kind of shimmer or glitter. You can dab these on for a sheer wash of color, or add layers to obtain a richer color. Yay for buildable lipglosses!

Longevity: These last about 3 hours on my lips. After three hours, my lips have a slight tint of color and feel nice and moisturized, as if I had just applied a lip balm.

Packaging:  These glosses come in a simple tube packaging. Nothing special, but I can’t complain either. One thing that I don’t like, however, is the applicator. It has a weird, wavy, hourglass shape that hugs my lips in the wrong way. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to use the round tip at the very end, or the middle?! Anyway, it's something I could definitely do without. I would much prefer a typical doe-foot/brush applicator.

What is with this strange applicator?!

Scent: These smell SO good! I can’t explain it, but it’s sweet and smells so yummy. You might want to skip these if you hate scented products because the scent IS rather noticeable upon application. It does fade after awhile though.

For an extremely pigmented, nonsticky gloss that’s less than $3, these are a steal! If you don't mind scented lip products, be sure to check these out the next time you’re at an Ulta!
Rating: A

NOTW: Barry M. Yellow

This week's nail polish is my Barry M. in Yellow.  I know this is not exactly a fall color nor is it something I would usually wear, but I wanted to give it a try.

I only used two coats with this nail polish but it was still a bit streaky.  If you decide to try this I would recommend putting on three coats.  I did not mind having it plain but just for fun I wanted to add a fun design.

The only thing that came to mind was a bumble bee because of the bright yellow.  I know this is not very original but it was my first time doing this.

Poor bee does not even look like a bee.. =\  Haha.  Oh wells.

*random conversation*
Me: Babe, did you see my nails?  Isn't it cute?!
Hubby:  I don't like bees.
Me: So you don't like it? *sad face*
Hubby: Did you forget I'm allergic to bees?
Me: LOL, oh yeah. My bad.

Do you have a yellow nail polish in your collection?

NOTW: Gosh Frou-Frou

I got some requests to do more nail posts, so I am trying to get back into the groove.  I use to my nails a lot and create different designs before I gave birth.  But now with an infant, I do not have as much free time.

I have never heard of this Gosh brand until the lovely Maria Sparkle sent it to me in our beauty swap.  In the bottle, I did not really care for it.  But once I started to apply this on my nails I fell in love.  It is a cute pink metallic color. I applied two coats to get a nice color out of it.  The brush was great and picked up a lot of the liquid.  The nail polish dried fairly quickly.  I just applied this today so I am not able to tell you how long it lasts without chipping.

I am still learning how to take good shots of the nail polish on my nails.

I decided to add a simple design.

It is nothing fancy, but I like it.

Have you tried Gosh nail polish before?
