Are you ready for the beach?

As most of you know I live in Hawaii (the island of Oahu).  Although our island is surrounded by water, I actually hate the beach..  I just hate sitting in the sun and either getting sunburnt or tanned and I CANNOT swim!  You would think I'd know how to swim but nope.  Water scares me especially after having a near drowning experience when I was younger.  I do fine at the shallow beaches but once I cannot feel the ground/sand I will scream bloody murder.  Same goes with pools.  I am okay at the 5 ft but any further I begin to panic.

Although I hate the beach, my husband requested that we go to the beach when he comes back home.  It will also be our daughter's first time in the water.  So, of course, I am willing to make an exception.  With that I decided to go shopping for some surf shorts.  After giving birth, my stretchmarks on my upper thighs got worst.  They have made me very self-conscious so the surf shorts will help me to hide them.

NEX was having a 30% off sale on their swimwear so I picked this up for myself and my hubby.  I wanted to buy my daughter a bathing suit but I didn't see anything that would fit her.  Overall I saved about $15.

For someone who hates the beach, I actually have a few bathing suits.  Most were both at Ross (similar to the mainland's TJ Maxx) because their prices are very affordable!  My favorite are the two pink suits.

Have you gone to the beach this summer?  What's your favorite bikini/bathing suit?

Thanks for reading,
Dinah

I've always wanted a monokini like the brown one you have there. I am totally ready for the beach! My family has a house in Florida and I'll be going in about a week and a half - I'm so excited :)

No way, I hate the beach too. I hate getting dark also and I get bored of the water after a few minutes LOL! And I think it's funny how brother wants to spend more time in the water when he's always in a boat.

OMG! I love going to the beach, I detest sunburn, though. Why don't you use a really good sunblock like the Armada Sport from VMV? =)

LOL...I LOVE ROSS!!! But I'm with yeah, I hardly go to the beach too. I hate getting a tan, only because I hate having to change foundation oh and the horrible tan lines =/ lol but I totally can relate to staying only in shallow waters....I hate not bein able to touch the bottom!

D.Sadie said...

Oh cool! Are you on the mainland now? Lol. How come you didn't like the sand?

D.Sadie said...

OH! Is that what it's called?! Lol. I didn't know that. I really liked it..until I got into the water and tried to do my version of "swimming". If I wasn't in the water I would've flashed everyone. >.<

Haha! I can't believe how much we have in common! When/If I do go beach I load up on the sunblock. Or I just stay in the water/sun for 10 minutes and I'm outs. Haha. But yeah...I guess Chris just really miss our beaches. SD is too chilly to go to the beach and it doesn't look as clean. =X

Winter? Are your seasons opposite from ours? Lol. Sorry, I don't know.

D.Sadie said...

OH! I should try that. Thanks. I just work so hard and long to keep my skin fair, but it could take 30 minutes in the sun to tan. =( Lol.

D.Sadie said...

Aww, haha. Where do you live, hun?

D.Sadie said...

Lol. I blame my parents for not teaching me how to swim.

D.Sadie said...

Thank hun! Great blog. I'm now following you. =)

D.Sadie said...

Omg, yes. I hate tan lines. >.< Haha, can you swim?

Seriously, Ross is one of my best friends :) And I love the NEX! Too bad I don't have access to it but whenever I do, I always do a little shopping! Love the suits!

My favorite bikini is my black one,it covers my belly. I've never liked showing my body, even when I was size 0. So now with my post baby body,I really don't want anyone staring at me.lol

I looove Ross!! I'm allergic to the sun but of course H still drags me to the beach! You could always get a sexy little wrap instead of shorts, you're in Hawaii it will look exotic.;) Sorry to hear you had a near drowning experience.:(( *hugs*

For someone who does not care soo much for the beach, your swimsuit pieces are great! I love the orange and pink/white and black combo! I love the beach and so yes, this summer I had to go to the beach with my pals, an all girl trip! It was one of our best times ever! -Mar

D.Sadie said...

D.Sadie said...

Thanks hun! I have yet to go to the beach this summer.. Lol. Hopefully I will by next week

D.Sadie said...

Awww! What size are you now with your post baby body, if you don't mind me asking? I'm self-conscious about my body too after giving birth. =\ I doubt I'll wear a bikini. If I do I'll probably put a cami over me.

D.Sadie said...

You're allergic to the sun?? =( I'm sorry to hear. And thanks for the hug. Lol.

D.Sadie said...

Lol! Woot. We're cool like that.
